Seven Steps of Immigration

  1. Gather general information
Visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada's website for detailed information.

  2. Request specific information
Contact us if you have any specific inquiries about British Columbia.

  3. Visit British Columbia
The Government of British Columbia urges you to visit our Province before you complete your immigration plans. Gain first-hand experience of life in Canada. Attend our Immigration and Investment Seminar. Explore business opportunities. The Government of British Columbia will guide you how to utilize the Canada/British Columbia Business Services and other sources to identify and evaluate business opportunities. If you have not reserved a seminar seat beforehand, please contact us on arrival.  Those who attend our Seminar will be awarded points for adaptability in the immigration officer's assessment.

  4. Complete your application
Once you have conducted sufficient research to feel confident about your business success in British Columbia, summarize your business experience and your investment intentions. Document your net worth on the forms provided in your business immigration application kit. Submit your application with all required documents to the Canadian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission at your country of residence. The Application kit is downloadable from the Citizenship and Immigration Canada's website which also provides you with detailed information on the immigration process.

  5. Attend a personal interview
If you meet the basic requirements, you and your spouse will be invited to an interview with a visa officer at the Canadian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission. As an Entrepreneur, you will have the opportunity to show your knowledge of business conditions in British Columbia. You are not expected to invest in a British Columbia business until you have taken up permanent residence in Canada.

  6. Undergo medial and security check
If your interview is successful, the visa officer will give you forms and a schedule for a medical examination. Immigration officials will verify your personal background. (Persons with a criminal background do not qualify for immigration to Canada).

  7. Receive your visa
Welcome to British Columbia. As a successful applicant, you and your dependents will receive a Canadian immigrant visa permitting you to start your new life in British Columbia. Your visa will be valid for twelve months from your medical examination. You and your dependents named on the visa must take up permanent residence in Canada before the visa expires. The visa’s validity period cannot be extended.

As an Entrepreneur, you will receive a visa with terms and conditions. These terms and conditions require you to start your business activity within three years of landing in Canada.
