The Government of British Columbia offers services to small business through the Ministry of Small Business and Economic Development and its partners.

Small Business BC is a single window to small business information and support.  Funded by the Ministry of Small Business and Economic Development and Western Economic Diversification Canada, Small Business BC provides business start-up and expansion information, business planning and advisory services and information on financing.

OneStop Business Registry - www.bcbusinessregistry.ca

The OneStop Business Registry is a provincial government organization that provides easy-to-use, integrated services that allow BC businesses to interact with government more easily, expediently and efficiently.  The Registry allows entrepreneurs to register a business online - completing up to ten provincial, federal and municipal government registrations with one entry.  Changes to a business address can now be made in a single step.

The Investment Capital Branch of the Ministry of Small Business and Economic Development helps small businesses gain access to capital.  Ministry programs offer investors, including employee investors, tax credits for making equity capital investment in qualifying small businesses.

The Tourism and Small Business Branch provides policy guidance, develops provincial strategies and works in partnership with the tourism and business communities and service providers by:

  • leading the development of corporate strategic tourism and small business policy;

  • coordinating the tourism and small business activities of government agencies and ensuring that policies and programs work together to allow the sectors to continue to grow;

  • identifying and resolving barriers to tourism and small business growth;

  • improving government service delivery to the tourism and small business sectors;

  • ensuring effective tourism and small business input into the development of government policy and programs.
