General Map Instructions #7: Display Or Remove A Legend

Layers are most often displayed in the Layer list view, which allows you to make layers active and turn them on and off.

The Legend view explains map symbology. By choosing Legend from the function bar, the map legend will appear in the information panel. Clicking the layer tab will revert you back to the Layer list. To the right, the Rare Elements layer is shown symbolized by the different types of rare elements in the region.

When you add or remove a layer the legend will update automatically to reflect the layers. As well, when you change a layers symbology the map legend will also be updated.

When you print a map, the legend is automatically added to the map.
