Dogsledding adventures
Make a date with the snow!
Become one with winter… go on a dogsledding adventure! This activity will put you in touch with nature like no other. Let man's best friend take you off the beaten track, through snow-covered forests and plains, beyond roads. Be soothed by the peaceful silence punctuated only by the sound of the wind and the panting of the huskies and malamutes. Be on the lookout for fox, deer and moose tracks in the glistening snow…
A time-honoured activity
Dogsleds are a traditional method of transportation in the Great North. The Inuit and Amerindians traveled by dogsled all the time, and colonists, fur traders, missionaries and gold prospectors used them to transport wood and other merchandise through the forests. Today, this activity helps us get in touch with nature and establish a bond with these captivating animals. Adventure tourism fans will love the pulka, a combination of mushing and cross-country skiing.
Original winter outings
The teams are usually made up of four to nine dogs, which will take you into nature along with your driver (generally there are no more than two seats per sled). You can even learn to drive the sled yourself, thanks to the instructions of professional guides (mushers). Excursions ranging from a few hours to one to seven days are available in most regions of Québec, with accommodations in a teepee, rustic chalet or even at the best inns and hotels. It goes without saying that warm clothing is a must!
