Salute!
Salute! is a quarterly, bilingual newspaper produced by Veterans Affairs Canada to provide veterans and their families with information on departmental policies, programs and services that affect them. There also is a strong emphasis on health promotion and education information that promotes clients' well-being, independence and quality of life. By sharing this information through our Web site, we hope that others may benefit.

Veterans Ombudsman
The Veterans Ombudsman will be effective and play an important role in raising the awareness of the needs and concerns of Veterans and will enhance the confidence of Veterans that their views are important.

Agent Orange
On September 12, 2007, the Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs, was joined by the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, as he announced that Canada's New Government is offering a one-time, tax-free ex gratia payment of $20,000 related to the testing of unregistered U.S. military herbicides, including Agent Orange, at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown in 1966 and 1967.

Veterans Bill of Rights
The Veterans Bill of Rights is an expression of the rights Veterans have long identified as important. It is a comprehensive declaration of rights for all war-service Veterans, Veterans and serving members of the Canadian Forces (Regular and Reserve), members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, spouses, common-law partners, survivors and primary caregivers, other eligible dependants and family members, and other eligible clients.

Mental Health

New Veterans Charter
