Landsat 7 Orthoimages & Control Points (Geobase Data Alignment Layer)

There are a number of federal, provincial, and territorial databases in existence and they are widely used across Canada. Among the range available, topographic databases offer the ideal spatial reference for those who decide how a territory and its resources are managed and used. One of the most significant problems encountered in processing data to extract the information sought, however, is integrating the various data sources. There is general agreement that having a unique, shared geometry for the topographic spatial reference would reduce integration problems. In taking this approach, the various federal, provincial, and territorial agencies worked together to establish the GeoBase Data Alignment Layer (GDAL), which comprises Landsat 7 Orthoimages and the Control Points used in their orthorectification.

Above the 82 degree of latitude, 5 RADARSAT-1 orthoimages were used to complete the coverage of satellite imagery over Canada
