OCA Hosts First Inter-Disciplinary Seminar

Acting in part on the recommendations of the Review Panel, Jean-Claude Ménard, Chief Actuary, organised the Seminar with the intention of broadening OCA's sources of advice and opinions concerning the assumptions made in preparing the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) Report. Mr. Ménard said in his opening remarks that he hoped the information provided by the guest speakers would assist the OCA to "assess both the changing and uncertain nature of a short-term phenomenon and the irreversible nature of a trend produced by a long-term phenomenon."

John Palmer, the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, who attended the seminar, said the OCA "is reaching out .... so that the best expertise is brought to bear on the making of the CPP Report. This is an historic initiative and should result in enhancements of the process of producing reports, which are so important to Canadians." For complete article, click here.
