Guidelines On Selecting A Password
- Choose a password that is complex. For example, choose the first letter of each word of an easily remembered sentence, such as, ‘Choose a password with complexity today’. The password would be capwc2d (but do not use this password).
- A solid password is one that is not part of a dictionary, name of a friend, family member or pet, does not include address details like a postal code and is not your name.
- Use numbers, characters and special characters (i.e. %, $, #) to strengthen the password.
- Generally, passwords should be at least 8 characters, up to a maximum of 14.
- Do not share passwords.
- Do not write down passwords, if possible. Store passwords in a password protected file that is stored in an encrypted folder, if necessary.
