For nearly 30 years, Rick MacInnes-Rae has been a voice listeners
count on when they tune to CBC Radio.
From Kosovo, Bosnia, Chechnya, Rwanda, northern Ireland,Iraq,
Haiti, El Salvador and more, he brings a Canadian perspective
to international conflict, and tells it with award-winning
panache.
Born in Montreal, he was raised in Vancouver and Toronto,
and recruited by CBC-TV News while still a student. Rick formally
joined the Corporation in 1977, after graduating with a journalism
degree from Ryerson University.
After postings in Newfoundland and New Brunswick, he moved
to Toronto, subsequently joining the National Radio News service.
In 1984, Rick became a national reporter with frequent secondments
to the Washington bureau and overseas.
In 1993, Rick was appointed London Correspondent for CBC
Radio News, with a territory stretching at times from Ireland
to India.
His work has won Canadian and international craft awards,
including multiple citations from the Prix Bayeux, a competition
in France recognising war correspondents who "excel under
perilous conditions."
