Development of fishing and aquaculture in the Basse-Côte-Nord region

This measure aims to support the efforts of organizations and companies on the Basse-Côte-Nord region in their efforts to develop fisheries and aquaculture. It complements the efforts of the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (MAPAQ).

Eligible Activities

Eligible expenses

All expenses related to projects in one of the following areas are eligible.  Financial assistance may not be used to pay for expenses incurred before the project was proposed.

Projects or activities concerned

Projects related to one of the following components:

Component 1: Improving corporate managerial know-how

Component 2: Improving corporate research and development capabilities

Component 3: Prospecting and developing markets

Component 4: Carrying out market and opportunity studies

Summary

Financial assistance takes the form of a grant.

Components 1 et 2

Total financial assistance may not exceed $100,000 per company and per job. Furthermore, funding is progressively reduced. The subsidy covering the salaries of professional and technical staff corresponds to a maximum of 80% of salaries in the first year, 60% in the second year and 40% in the third year.

Components 3 et 4

Maximum financial assistance may cover 90% of the cost of the project if carried out by a non-profit organization and 80% if carried out by a private enterprise.
