The Agri-Food Trade Service is Canada's source for agricultural, fish and seafood export information. The Agri-Food Trade Service (ATS) provides centralized access to market information, trade counselling and export support activities, which will take the exporter from initial enquiry to foreign market.

Summary

The Agri-Food Trade Service (ATS) provides a full range of market access, market development and investment services to Canadian agri-food companies.

The regional offices provide single-window access for regional clients and stakeholders to all of the Markets and Trade Team programs and services, as well as some services from other branches and departments.

Regional offices can provide services and information regarding:

  • market access;
  • market development;
  • the impact of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, and associated market opportunities and constraints;
  • the analysis of domestic and international market demand, consumer trends and opportunities;
  • regional delivery of AAFC and other federal government programs and services to expand the international marketing capability of agri-food clients;
  • access to Market and Industry Services Branch and other departmental services e.g., The Canadian Agriculture and Food International (CAFI) Program;
  • the resolution of local trade irritants and the move of regional irritants to national resolutions;
  • regional resolution of interprovincial trade issues and activities;
  • the identification of export-ready companies and products, as well as the facilitation of buyer/seller relationships;
  • seminars and workshops on geographical markets, specific product markets and strategic partnership alliances;
  • the coordination of domestic market development activities e.g., incoming buying missions and outgoing selling missions;
  • the maintenance of non-government organization and company-specific profiles and databases, and regional information on industry structure and performance;
  • investment: assisting federal and provincial partners in attracting and retaining international and domestic investment into the Canadian food sector;
  • corporate support: Providing support to the Minister and Deputy Minister.
