Canadian Industry Statistics presents and analyses industry data on the number of establishments, gross domestic product and labour productivity for industry sectors in the Canadian Economy using a few of the latest annual data sources from Statistics Canada. Industries are defined according to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).

Analyses of the Manufacturing sector is in greater detail. In addition to the data quoted above, the analysis of manufacturing industries provides trends on employment, salaries and wages, manufacturing production, manufacturing costs, performance capital investment and international merchandise trade for the ten most recent years.

Canadian Industry Statistics offers annual overviews of Canadian industries, with a particular emphasis on the manufacturing sector. Industries are defined according to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).

The contents of the different sections are summarized below:

• industry definition: the definition of the industry under NAICS;
• establishments: the number of active and inactive establishments, establishments by employer size categories, distribution by province and breakdown between employer and non-employer type of establishments;
• employment: the number of employees by type of worker (production vs administrative);
• salaries and wages: the total salaries and wages paid by establishments, and estimation of average annual salary by type of worker;
• manufacturing production: the value of manufacturing shipments and manufacturing value-added; and the total hours worked by production employees;
