Cross Country Skiing (groomed trails)

The many cross country skiing opportunities Sépaq offers prompted us to introduce a season pass in recent years, which gives you access to 8 ski centres in the network. Since there are rates for cross country skiing, the season pass is a definite advantage for ski buffs who want to practice their activity in a variety of beautiful natural sites. Several establishments offer ski rental and warming huts.

Mont-Tremblant, Mont-Orford, Mont-Mégantic, Mont-Saint-Bruno, Monts-Valin, Oka and more recently Gaspésie* national parks are participating in making cross country skiing one of Sépaq's leading products. They groom over 310 km of classic skiing trails and more than 110 km of skate-skiing trails. *No charge for this activity in this park.

Experienced skiers or beginners who want to enjoy their sport in well-organized centres offering a high-quality experience won't want to miss Station touristique Duchesnay (70 km of trails) and Camp Mercier in Réserve faunique des Laurentides (52 km of trails).

A few hints to help you plan your excursions. To make an informed decision, consult our snow conditions. Sometimes, even if it's raining in other regions of Québec, it could be snowing at Parc national du Mont-Mégantic...

Backcountry Skiing (marked, ungroomed trails)

For those of you who prefer to adventure a little further into the backcountry, several establishments offer short or long backcountry skiing excursions which will take you into some mind-boggling scenery! Who has never dreamed of discovering the Saguenay Fjord, Mont Albert or the Vallée des Fantômes covered in a mantle of pristine snow? After a day in the great outdoors, what could be better than the heat of a warm fire in a hut or cabin? For those who are less sensitive to the cold, a night in a tent an igloo could be part of the experience! To make life easier for you, some establishments offer a baggage transportation service.

The national parks mark more than 578 km of trails to make your dream a reality. Recognized for the past several years for the quality of their backcountry skiing trails combined with overnight stays in huts, Gaspésie and Mont-Tremblant national parks are the leaders. Other parks like Jacques-Cartier, Monts-Valin, Saguenay, Grands-Jardins and Aiguebelle, also promise magic moments in the heart of Québec's spectacular nature.

Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle stands out because it has 120 km of marked trails and 14 huts (cabins converted into winter huts). It is also worth mentioning that réserve faunique de Portneuf has 34 km of trails, 2 huts and many cabins available for winter vacationing.

Ski trips with an overnight stay in a hut require good preparation. Take a look at the Practical Advice . Don't forget to consult our snow conditions updated daily.
