Empower Program for Industrial Systems

The Empower Program for Industrial Systems, part of Hydro-Québec’s Energy Efficiency Plan, assists clients in implementing electricity management measures that will optimize their systems and processes. Hydro-Québec can provide technical support, and once the conditions of the program have been met, financial support.

Eligibility Criteria

Small and medium-sized business with one or more service contracts that are not Rate L.

Eligible Activities

Each project must save at least 25,000 kWh of electricity per year beyond current industry efficiency, as defined under the program.

• Energy saving measures must be evaluated using tools approved by Hydro-Québec;
• Implemented measures must use proven technology.

Summary

Technical support helps you determine which operations use the most electricity and estimate potential energy savings, select the most profitable measures, put together your project and determine the amount of financial assistance to which you might be entitled.

The financial assistance offered by Hydro-Québec is the smallest of the following amounts: 15¢ per kilowatthour saved after implementation of each eligible measure; the amount required to reduce the payback period of eligible project costs to 12 months; $300,000 per project.

Eligible costs:

• Costs of installing new equipment or products, and engineering;
• Non-eligible measures: maintenance or operational measures or measures which replace electricity with another energy source.
