Internet Business Development for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (IBDE)

The online Internet Business Development for Entrepreneurs (IBDE) Web design program provides an opportunity for adults facing barriers to employment to enhance their work and employability skills in a self-paced and supported work and learning environment.

Summary

The IBDE program is a six-month, online accredited Web design program that teaches students how to make Web sites, under the guidance of their one-on-one instructors, for selling their own products or service, or as a Web designer for other small “ma & pa” businesses in their communities that want a Web presence but can’t afford the prices of a large Web design firm. Tuition funding is available to qualifying individuals.

Students can choose to have their site featured in the http://www.virtualmall.ca Web portal with other IBDE graduate's sites or they can place it as a "stand alone" Web site on the World Wide Web. Either way they have developed the skills needed to create independent Web sites. The skills learned in the IBDE program are used as the basis for establishing participants in an affordable home-based Web business, in as little as six months.

The IBDE program allows new entrepreneurs the opportunity to network and liaise with their instructors and fellow Web designers across the country, through online text messaging, e-mail and virtual classroom sessions. It helps them develop mutually beneficial relationships with the business community while allowing them the opportunity to earn an income and strive towards financial independence.
