Summary

Workers' Advocates are located in Fredericton, Saint John, Bathurst, Edmundston, Miramichi and Moncton to help you on matters pertaining to the Workers' Compensation Act and in particular with the appeals process. Workers' Advocate services are available to you at no charge. The Advocates are employees of the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour and are independent of the Workers' Compensation Board. However, advocates have full access to all Board files and records relating to any claim they are reviewing.

The Workers' Advocates can help you:

  • By providing general information about the Workers Compensation system; policies, procedures, etc.
  • By advising injured workers on what actions they can take and by helping to gather the necessary information.
  • By determining if there is a problem with a claim that can be resolved through an appeal. By helping to prepare an appeal, written or oral.
  • By appearing with the injured worker or their dependent as his or her representative at an appeal hearing.

For more information, telephone or write the Office of the Workers' Advocate nearest you. Provide some basic information concerning your claim and the nature of the problem. Always refer to your Compensation Claim number. State what you want clearly. Please call and arrange an appointment with an advocate before coming to the office.
