Under contract to NAV CANADA, Environment Canada collects and distributes aviation weather observations and produces aviation weather forecasts for the airspace over Canada and the North Atlantic Ocean.

Eligibility Criteria

This service is used by:

  • flight service stations;
  • general aviation services;
  • airlines;
  • business aircraft; and
  • airports.

Summary

Environment Canada is the source of much of the weather information that NAV CANADA, a private corporation, delivers through its network of flight service stations, including all Canadian aviation forecasts.

These services are provided according to national and international standards and the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Environment Canada also prepares and delivers specialized aviation weather services to aviation clients, which go beyond the basic services provided by NAV CANADA, on a cost-recovery basis.
