Infrastructure Canada

Last Verified: 2007-05-08

Infrastructure Canada coordinates federal government efforts focused on cities and communities, and supports infrastructure initiatives across the country. Together with Transport Canada and 16 Crown corporations, the department forms part of a larger Transport, Infrastructure and Communities (TIC) portfolio.

The new portfolio is a focal point for many issues that are of national interest, and play out in all regions and communities. TIC brings together the Government of Canada's activities in supporting the development of our communities, the planning of our transportation systems and the renewal of our infrastructure.

Eligibility Criteria

Cities, municipalities, small communities and First Nations

Summary

The Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund helps support smaller scale municipal infrastructure, such as water and wastewater treatment, or cultural and recreation projects, for smaller and First Nations communities.
