The Labour Market Analysis Branch (LMAB) is an information Branch, responsible for providing labour market information, including research, analysis, forecasting, and program evaluation to the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour and its partners. This information helps users make the link between the right skills and the right jobs for New Brunswickers.

These responsibilities are undertaken:

  • in support of labour and economic development initiatives and
  • to provide Government partners and clients with access to the labour market information that they require in order to ensure:
    • the accountability and continual improvement of programs and services of the Department;
    • that training and employment development programs and services meets the needs of economic development and the labour market and;
    • that the public, either through direct access, or through high school guidance counsellors (ED), university counsellors, NBCC career consultants, employment counsellors (PETL), and case managers (PETL, FCS), has the information required to make informed career decisions.

Eligibility Criteria

Anyone in public or private sector requiring labour market information.

New Brunswick Job Futures
New Brunswick Job Futures is a joint publication of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) - NB Region and the NB Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour. It provides information about what employers are typically looking for in terms of education, training and specific skills.  It also gives information about future occupational trends.  It is designed for students, guidance and employment counsellors as well as for people interested in changing careers or re-entering the labour market.

Occupational Outlook
This product pulls together various sources of labour market information (LMI) and presents it in such a way as to eliminate the need for the user to search for and gather this information on their own. The Occupational Outlook contains labour market information for every occupation in New Brunswick based on a unique National Occupational Classification (NOC ) code assigned to each occupation found in the outlook.

Useful in interpreting information on the labour market from newspapers, magazine and government documents.

Profiles and Surveys of the NB Labour Force - Enterprise Network (CEDAs)
Provides existing demographic and labour market information specific to each of the 15 Enterprise Network regions.

Labour Market Trends and Challenges
(A Socio-Economic Environmental Scan of New Brunswick)
This publication updated periodically in a presentation format, provides coverage of the leading socio economic trends and demographic challenges facing New Brunswick's labour market (i.e. aging population, educational performance, etc.)

New Brunswick Wage Report (and database) 2003
This publication (and database) provides statistical information on hourly wage rates for a 164 occupations in New Brunswick classified according to the 2001 National Occupational Classification (NOC) structure. Data was collected on starting wages with no experience, starting wages with experience, wages after one year, maximum wages, and the most frequently paid wage for both full-time and part-time workers in each occupation, at the provincial level and by the boundaries of the two former Employment Insurance regions in New Brunswick. The former Fredericton / Moncton / Saint John and Restigouche / Charlotte regions provide an urban/rural disaggregation.

Graduate Follow-up Surveys

  • Annual information on employment experiences of community college graduates in the year following graduation.
  • 3-year information on employment experiences of community college graduates three years following graduation.

Survey of 2002 New Brunswick High School Graduates
his survey interviewed the graduates of 2002 to obtain information on their post-secondary and labour market activities since graduation.
