Service New Brunswick - SNB

Last Verified: 2008-02-14

Service New Brunswick (SNB) establishes the assessed value of each property in the province for property taxation purposes, administers related tax benefit programs and provides access to assessment data to the public.

Eligibility Criteria

Assessment information on a specific property can be obtained by the property owner(s) free of charge. Anyone else can access non-confidential assessment data on a fee for service basis.

Potential clients include all business ventures involving real property transactions, and/or securing interest in real property. Assessment information may also be of interest as research for business development.

Summary

SNB annually establishes the real and true value of each property in the province, produces the property tax base for each taxing authority, and administers related tax benefit programs.  The Property Assessment and Taxation System (PATS) is a computerized database accessible online from any SNB Office. The public can access non-confidential assessment data including location, assessed value, registered document index numbers, property description and use.

Tax benefit programs administered by SNB are:

  • Residential property tax credit;
  • Farmland Identification Program (FLIP);
  • Property Tax Reduction Program for not-for-profit organizations
  • Property Tax Abatement - Heritage Properties
  • Non-for-profit Low Rental Housing Relief Program
