The Business Development Bank of Canada sponsors a
national Aboriginal Youth Business Plan Competition with online modules,
mentoring and business plan template for Aboriginal youth in Grades 10-12. Each year over 500 Aboriginal students across Canada participate. Since 2001, E-Spirit has introduced over 3 000 students to entrepreneurship.
Aboriginal youth enrolled in high school grades 10-12, within Canada. Age of participants will be limited to 18 years of age.
Exception: learning centres, non-profit* training organizations and others, with prior approval of BDC E-Spirit coordinating team.
E-Spirit is about making a "human capital investment" that will provide the participant with valuable skills needed for today's marketplace. Assisting students today, while still in high school, gives them time and the information they require to make informed choices about their education and career paths.
This program is designed to increase Aboriginal youth participants' awareness of entrepreneurial/business opportunities, management/business skills, and e-commerce and technological capacities.
Cash prizes, computers, cool Web sites and resources, a chance to meet other students online and in person, recognition and awards are just some of the features of this initiative.
Registration will take place in September of each given year. No registrations will be accepted after 4:00 p.m., Central Standard Time, on the final registration date of each given year. BDC E-Spirit Team may approve late registrations due to technological or other difficulties on an individual basis.
*Note: "non-profit" also known as nonprofit organizations, non profit organizations, not-for-profit organizations, voluntary organizations and volunteer organizations.
