NBAB-Creation Grants Program

The Creation Grants Program is designed to provide assistance to professional New Brunswick artists for the research and execution of original projects in the arts. Creation grants are intended to allow artists to devote some or most of their time to research and creative production.

Eligibility Criteria

An applicant is eligible to apply when he/she:

  • meets the definition of the professional artist as well as the criteria for the discipline in which they apply;
  • is a New Brunswick resident for at least one year prior to the deadline date;
  • presents a project which meets the objectives and the criteria of the selected program.

Arts professionals employed with private or public organizations or institutions may apply on their own behalf, on condition that their project is not part of their work as an employee of the organization or institution.

Students attending an educational institution on a full-time basis are not eligible. Funded projects may not be submitted for academic credit by part-time students.

Summary

Level of funding

  • An "A" category artist may receive up to $15,000 in any two-year period.
  • A "B" category artist may receive up to $7,000 in any two-year period.
  • A "C" category artist may receive up to a maximum of $3,500 per year two times only.

Payment of the grant is made as follows:

  • 70% of the grant will be issued on approval;
  • 20% will be forwarded on receipt and approval of an Interim Report;
  • 10% will be forwarded on receipt and approval of a Final Report.

A Final Report must be submitted within three years following the completion of the project. Failure to comply makes the applicant ineligible for any further grants.

How to apply  

Deadline for submitting applications for categories "A" "B" and "C" grants :April 1 and October 1. 

It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure that all materials required to complete his or her file are received by the New Brunswick Arts Board, or postmarked, by the deadline of the competition.

Applicants must forward to New Brunswick Arts Board a complete file containing:

  • a juried program application form duly completed, and
  • all the required support material and samples of work stated in the Application Form under the headings "Requirements" and "Samples of Work".
