The CBDC Peninsule acadienne is proud to offer a financial support program consisting of non-refundable contributions to the New Brunswick oyster industry. This initiative is a follow-up to the Shellfish Development Program, which was originally put in place in 2003.

Summary

The Shellfish Development Program's goal is to promote the development of business skills among aquaculturists an the hiring of qualified employees. The program is made up of the three following components:

  • equipment and spat,
  • employees who have training in aquaculture,
  • as well as professional services which can promote better management of the company.

Objective of the program:

  • To promote long term economic diversification of coastal areas by maximizing the use of local resources.
  • To promote long term job creation.
  • To promote the creation and establishement of a cluster of oyster companies.
  • To increase the level of skills in oyster companies.
  • To promote the expansion of oyster companies at a consistent production level.
  • To allow aquaculturists to overcome financial difficulties associated with the first years of operation and to rapidly maximize their operations.
