Where are the Seasonal Camping Sites?

There are over 1,500 seasonal campsites available within Manitoba’s Provincial Parks that are allocated through a series of public held draws in late winter and early spring.

How do I apply for a seasonal campsite?

Obtain a seasonal camping information/application package by using the Winnipeg Held or Rural Held draw links or call the Seasonal Camping Coordinator at 945-3934.  Read the whole package, including "Conditions of Application" and the "Seasonal Camper's Guide".  Fill out the application form and submit it with the full payment by the deadline date in the package.

Do I have to attend the site selection draw?

Yes. The applicant or their representative must attend the site selection draw.

In 2007, a new two-step process was introduced to three of the WInnipeg held draws that have been significantly over-subscribed in recent years. The first step involved a pilot "pre-draw" which limited the number of applicants required to attend the actual site selection draw held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. This pilot was well received by participants as it limited the over-crowding in over-subscribed draws and improved the time required to complete each individual draw. As a result, we are extending this process to all Winnipeg held draws. A computerized applicant selection process will take place on February 22, 2008 to determine draw order and identify those applicants who should attend the site selection draw in March. Letters will be sent advising all participants of their status.

Can I submit multiple applications?

No, only one application per family is permitted.  For the purpose of application, the term ”family” is generally defined as parent(s) and their children under the age of 18 years.

What if I am unsuccessful at a draw?

If you are unsuccessful, you must choose one of the following three options: the "Closeout Draw",  "Standby List" or "Withdraw".

Closeout Draw  (for sites unallocated after the Winnipeg held public site selection draws)

Following the completion of the Winnipeg held public site selection draws, a separate draw will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 200 Saulteaux Crescent for any sites in the campgrounds that were not filled.  Under the Closeout Draw option, you are not obligated to accept any of the sites that might be available.  If you choose not to select a site, a full refund will be issued following the Closeout Draw.

NOTE: Please bring a personal cheque to the Closeout Draw, as the campsite you select may have a greater fee than your original payment.

Standby List  (for sites that are vacated throughout the season)

If you were unsuccessful , you will automatically be placed on the Standby List for that campground in your draw order.  A full refund will be issued following the draws, and you will be contacted if a site becomes available.  There is no obligation to accept sites that may become available.

NOTE:: Should the applicant decide to choose a lower level of service for a campground that offers more than one level of service, you will not be eligible to go on the Standby List. Once the applicant chooses to accept a site, they cannot transfer to a different site at a later date.

Withdraw

If you are unsuccessful at a draw, you may simply withdraw and a full refund will be issued at a later date.

When will I receive my refund?

Refunds will be issued once all draw records are reconciled.  This process is expected to be completed by the end of March.

NOTE:  ALL REFUNDS ARE ISSUED BY CHEQUE.
