Tourism Secretariat

The Tourism Secretariat oversees development and implementation of the government’s tourism policies, and ensures that the government’s investments in tourism contribute to overall policy priorities. In partnership with its statutory agency, Travel Manitoba, the Secretariat contributes to Manitoba's economic well-being by supporting the development of a dynamic, environmentally sustainable tourism industry. 

Major initiatives and programs are:

• Watchable Wildlife Program – an ongoing initiative to enhance wildlife viewing opportunities at signature viewing sites around Manitoba.
• Aboriginal Tourism Strategy – support for initiatives that help develop and strengthen the Aboriginal tourism industry.
• Rural Regional Tourism Initiative – on-going support for the marketing activities of Manitoba’s seven regional tourism associations.
• Star Attractions Program – highlighting Manitoba’s premiere tourist sites for travelers on Manitoba’s highways.
