Island on the Prairies: The Important Role of Teachers in Curriculum Change

Description: The Mathematics Learning Centre (MLC) of MUN will be facilitating a public lecture in which two Saskatoon based teachers, Garry Davis and Kevin Sawatzky, will share some of their experiences, both positive and negative, of teaching high school mathematics in Saskatchewan over the past 20 years.They will explain the process that Saskatchewan previously used to pilot new mathematics courses. Participants will be given some ideas on how teachers can become involved in such a rich experience even when provinces are moving away from a piloting process. The presenters will also share some of the initiatives that the Saskatoon Public School Division is considering as they embark on a process of Collegiate renewal. Reception to follow.
