The Honourable Diane Ablonczy Applauds Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia on Annual Tourism Summit

OTTAWA, December 2, 2008 — The Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), today issued the following statement:

"I would like to congratulate the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS) on yet another successful summit. The important work of Atlantic tourism operators is truly helping shape the future of one of Canada's most internationally renowned industries."

"Canada's tourism industry is significant to the well-being of our economy. The Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will bring travellers and world exposure to Canada. This will be an exciting time for our tourism industry, and Canada's government is resolved to contribute to this historic event and help make these truly Canada's Games."

"Venues such as the TIANS summit create a forum for discussions between industry partners and provide an opportunity to highlight their successes, of which there are many in Nova Scotia. From the Tall Ships Festival to the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, Nova Scotia's vibrant tourism industry has much to offer any traveller."
