Resources to prevent COVID-19 in the workplace
Get information to help develop a plan to protect workers, customers and the public from covid 19. Find posters, tools and guidance for Ontario workplaces.
Step 1: Know your responsibilities as an employer
Make sure you understand and comply with all requirements under the:
- Occupational Health and Safety Act, the health and safety rights and duties of everyone in the workplace
- Employment Standards Act, minimum standards of employment including job-protected leaves
- Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to covid 19) Act (ROA), public health measures and restrictions
Public health restrictions
Employers need to understand the restrictions that apply to their workplace as described in the Roadmap to Reopen. Find out what measures are in effect in your region and check your local public health unit website in case they have additional restrictions and requirements.
Screening
Employers are required to actively screen every worker before they enter the workplace at the start of their shift. A worker and employee screening tool is available.

Step 2: Develop a workplace safety plan
It’s important that employers have a plan for how they will protect against COVID-19 transmission in their workplace. This will help all businesses across Ontario to stay open and open and safe.
All businesses that are operating must have a safety plan by law. The plan must be made available to anyone who asks to see it, and posted in a place where it will be seen easily.
