April 1, 2004 Conference for the Access to Information & Privacy Community

The Annual ATIP Community Conference will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2004 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ottawa Congress Centre located at 55 Colonel By Drive,
Ottawa.
The theme of this year's conference is "ATIP – Supporting Transparency and Safeguarding
Privacy". Again this year, there will be a choice of workshops being held during the day. Participants will be required to select and register for the two workshops of their choice in the morning and two in the afternoon.
This year, invitations to attend the conference will be extended to the Offices of the Information and Privacy Commissioners as well as members of the various Legal Service Units across government. Registration is also open to consultants working in ATIP
Offices.

Conference Registration Costs
The registration costs for this year are:
- $175.00 per person if registered by Monday, March 22, 2004
- $200.00 per person if registered Tuesday, March 23, 2004 or after.
Conference Registration Process
One Registration Form must be completed for each participant. The completed form is to be forwarded to Francis Larose (613) 952-7287 (fax) by Wednesday, March 25, 2004. Payment Instructions are included on the Registration Form. Substitutions will be accepted upon notification. Payments will be required for cancellations made after March 25,
2004.
Due to the limited space available, the number of registrants from Departmental Legal Service Units will be restricted to 15 and the number of registrants from the Offices of the Information and Privacy Commissioners will be limited to 5 each. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served
basis.
The Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Community Awards for
Excellence
The Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Community Awards for Excellence will be awarded for the third year. The awards are intended to recognize the accomplishments and achievements of those members of the ATIP community who provide quality services to Canadians and to the community itself. The awards will be given in two categories: Excellence in Service and Innovation; and Dedication, Leadership and Community
Spirit.
