Technical Briefing & Conference:
Protection Against Family Violence Act
Reporters are invited to a technical briefing and news
conference for the implementation of the Protection Against
Family Violence Act. The new legislation provides new
options for victims of family violence.
The technical briefing is primarily educational in nature and is
intended to provide reporters with a more detailed understanding
of the legislation.
Spokespeople at the technical briefing will be:
Margaret Cissell, Family Law Advisor, Department of Justice
Superintendent Pat McCloskey, Officer-in-charge, Criminal
Operations, RCMP
Kate Tymstra, Director of Community Support Services,
Yellowknife YWCA
Immediately following the technical briefing, Brendan Bell,
Minister of Justice and Attorney General, will officially
announce the new legislation and take reporters’ questions.
