Forestry Centre - Graduate Student Funding > Who is Eligible?
You are eligible if you are (or plan to be) a registered student
in a graduate program at a Canadian university and are conducting
forestry-related research. Students may receive funding assistance
for up to 3 years throughout their graduate work - 2 years
for master’s students and 3 years for doctoral students,
subject to annual performance reports. Preference will be
given to students who are Canadian citizens. We also encourage
members
of the following designated groups to apply and self-identify:
women, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, and
persons in a visible minority group.
Send in your application at any time
Applications can be submitted to the Atlantic Forestry Centre throughout
the year but must be made jointly by the supervising university professor,
the supervising Atlantic Forestry Centre researcher or director, and the
graduate student. Applications will be adjudicated by a Dean of Graduate
Studies and the Director-General of the Atlantic Forestry Centre, with
preference going to projects tied to research being conducted at the Atlantic
Forestry Centre.
Payment
Payments will be made to the appropriate Faculty of Graduate
Studies. The University will administer the funding, report annually on its
disbursement, and ensure a report on deliverables is prepared annually.
Notification
The Atlantic Centre will notify applicants, in writing, as
soon as decisions are made. Funding will be distributed in August, December,
and April.
