  • Distinguish between the characteristics of urban and rural environments
  • Explain the geographical requirements that determine location of businesses and transportation and make predictions about future locations
  • Produce a set of criteria for identifying regions
Human-Environment Interactions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how human activities affect the environment
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how natural systems influence cultural and economic activities
Understanding and Managing Change
  • Demonstrate an understanding of selected factors that cause change in human and natural systems
  • Predict the consequences of human activities on natural systems
Methods of Geographic Inquiry
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the methods used to collect, organize, manipulate and interpret geographic data
  • Select and use appropriate technology to present geographic information
  • Use different types of maps to interpret geographic relationships including changes over time in a specific location
11 Geographic Foundations: Space and Systems
  • Differentiate among the major rock types and explain their origins
  • Analyze relationships between present characteristics of local landforms and the processes that shaped them
Human-Environment Interactions
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the effects of human activities on various aspects of the environment
  • Analyze damage and casualty risks related to flooding in selected areas and identify factors that increase risk
  • Identify postglacial features in the Ontario landscape and explain how people have derived benefits from them
Understanding and Managing Change
  • Describe the difference between human and geologic time scales
  • Analyze changes in land use in their local area over the past 20 years and the effects of these changes on the population and the environment
Methods of Geographic Inquiry
