Geographic Orientation The animation starts from above the Niagara Escarpment and progresses eastward. The Oak Ridges Moraine (1) forms the ridge running eastward which is defined by the warmest colours. At the beginning the Holland Marsh is seen to the north and Lake Ontario is the blue in the upper right corner. The prominent valley running southeastward in the first image is the Humber River Valley (2). In the middle part of the animation, Lake Scugog is to the north of the ridge. At the end of the animation the flat green surface is Rice Lake.
