International Capacity Development Centre

What is this "Centre" all about?

The Earth Sciences Sector (ESS) of Natural Resources Canada is committed to increasing its involvement in strengthening the capacity of developing countries.

For decades, Canada has worked in partnership with developing countries in applying geomatics and geoscience technologies to address a wide variety of important economic, environmental and social issues. This effort has led to improved capabilities of these countries to achieve sustainable development and better living conditions, while fostering long-term relationships between Canada and the developing world.

To allow Canada and ESS to build on many successful technology transfer projects and to seek out new partnerships, ESS is launching a new initiative called The Earth Sciences International Capacity Development Centre. The Centre will facilitate dialogue and help identify benefits and opportunities, while providing a mechanism for effective cooperation amongst all stakeholders.
