The objective of the Centre will be to provide a framework for cooperation in capacity building between Canadian institutions (government, universities and the private sector) and strong international or regional technical organizations in the developing countries.

Specifically, the Centre will:

1. Work with developing countries to address their sustainable development needs and priorities through capacity development; and
2. Promote linkages and cooperation between Canadian earth science specialists and their counterparts in these countries.
