Emergency Plans in Manitoba

Recent amendments to The Emergency Measures Act require municipalities to complete an emergency plan that meets standards as adopted by Manitoba EMO.

To ensure consistent province-wide standards, Manitoba EMO has developed a 60 point checklist to evaluate plans and assist municipal government in meeting these requirements.

Satisfactory completion of all 60 items will result in a municipal plan meeting the minimal requirements. Completion of 10 items from a list of 30 supplemental requirements will result in the municipality receiving a Recognition of Excellence in Emergency Management.

Municipalities with EMO-Approved Emergency Plans

As of October 2006, all Manitoba municipalities have completed an emergency plan and had their plan approved by EMO.

Congratulations to the municipalities for their hard work and dedication to emergency planning in their communities.
