Hunter and Firearm Safety - Instructors Training
Program
A training program was implemented
to train First Nation people to be instructors of the Manitoba Hunter
and Firearm Course.
Manitoba Conservation developed this initiative in response to the
number of hunting related firearm incidents involving First Nation
hunters.
Instructional courses have now been presented in four of the seven
Tribal Council areas. The training component of the program will
continue until courses have been provided in each of the Tribal Council
areas.
Another important component of this program is to develop educational
materials including a video that would meet the requirements of the
First Nation community. It is anticipated this video will be the first
of a series.
