On January 25, 2006 Statistics Canada released revisions to their labour force data from January 1976 to December 2005. Therefore, issues of the Employment Situation Report and the Labour Market Report, previous to the January 2006 issues, do not reflect the current LFS series. Please refer to the History 1996-2005 below for historical labour force data that will be compatible with 2006 monthly data as it is released.

The Labour Market Monthly is available on Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey (LFS) release day (which is usually the first Friday of each month—for dates see: www.statcan.ca/english/Release/

This publication contains: 1) LFS highlights at current month; 2) a feature article; and 3) a selection of additional key employment indicators obtained from other Statistics Canada surveys. As well, Appendix I contains summary tables of selected labour force characteristics including labour force, employment, unemployment, unemployment rate and participation rate for Canada, the provinces, and CMAs; and Appendix II contains a glossary of terms covered in the report.
