All Cadet Instructors Cadre officers participate in a 10-day Basic Officer

military writing, environmental awareness and youth issues. Training also includes
SHARP and CHAP — Canadian Forces programs that deal with issues of sexual harassment,
abuse and racism prevention for youth (CHAP) and for adults (SHARP). Cadet Instructors
Cadre officers are eligible for further training and courses depending on their
element, rank and interests. Cadet Instructors Cadre officers range in rank from
officer cadet to lieutenant-colonel (naval cadet to commander).
