QUICK OVERVIEW

Mailers of Addressed Admail have two options in preparing their mail.

1 - Prepare their mail to be MACHINEABLE by ensuring it is:

EASY TO FIND both and because they are:

1.  Located within specified areas

2.  Separated from other print by both location and quiet zones.

See 4.2 Location of the Destination Address for more information.

EASY TO READ the complete destination address because the address is:

1.  in the format described in 4.1 Address Format

2.  printed with clear, easy-to-see characters.

See 4.3 Printing, 4.4 Character Requirements and 7.6.2 Cover Characteristics .

EASY TO PRINT the bar code because the mail item:

1.  has clear space for the bar code

2.  will show a clear impression of the bar code by being:

covered in a material that will not smear - see 7.6.2 Cover Characteristics
of a consistent thickness - see  6. Enclosures.

2 - PRESORT their mail according to one of Canada Post's plans. This customer preparation reduces the processing done by Canada Post.

While this mail must meet some requirements (e.g. quiet spaces around payment and address as shown above), the mailer has more freedom in design and more available space for advertising. See  1. Description and 2. Requirements for more details.
