 "Building a Provincial Agriculture and Food Research, Technology and Development System Strategic Business Plan Together"

Purpose of the team
The Research and Development Strategy Team, through analysis and industry consultation, will develop a Provincial Agriculture and Food Research, Technology and Development System Strategic Business Plan.

Team members
In June, 2002, three focus groups were held with R & D stakeholders. Stakeholders volunteered from each meeting to help form the draft team that puts together the Strategic Business Plan. Membership of the team includes:

Joe Boothe, SemBioSys; Peter Burnett, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada; Darcy Fitzgerald, Alberta Livestock Industry Development Fund; Cliff Foster, Alberta Barley Commission; Les Fuller, U of A; Keith Jones, AVAC; Myka Osinchuk, Bio Alberta; Dick Peter, ARC; Robert Rogers, Alberta New Crop Network; Neal Oberg, AARI and ASRA board member; Dave Andersen

Advisors
Brent McEwan, Project Manager, AAFRD; Alan Hall, Project Co-champion, AAFRD; Don Macyk, Project Co-champion, AARI, Freda Molenkamp, Communication Co-Leader, AARI; Scott Wright, Leader Strategic Research Networks - AARI; Maureen Bolen, Project facilitator and project leadership in process design, industry consultation and communication, AAFRD.

Deliverables
The team, in consultation with stakeholders, will develop a Provincial Agriculture and Food Research, Technology and Development System Strategic Business Plan by December, 2002. The plan will contain: Vision/Outcomes, Purpose of the System, Goals, Strategies, Actions, Resources, Measures and Research priorities. Because stakeholders will be actively engaged in its development, all stakeholders will play some role in its implementation.
