Canada's SchoolNet is an educational initiative supported by a variety of organizations
across Canada, from government agencies, provincial, territorial, and federal,
- to industry, and educational establishments and stakeholders. Through the
guidance of the SchoolNet National Advisory Board, the Canadian Education Network
Coalition, and strong partnerships, SchoolNet helps to facilitate excellence
in learning through electronic networking across Canada.
Canadian
Innovation Centre
The Canadian Innovation Centre is Canada's leading organization dedicated to
assisting inventors, entrepreneurs and innovative companies. The CIC was founded
in 1981 as an independent, not-for-profit corporation. To date, the Innovation
Centre has assisted approximately 50, 000 innovators and formally evaluated
over 11, 000 of their promising ideas. Clients range from individual inventors
and entrepreneurs to large corporations. The CIC offers a wide range of consulting
services to those with ideas for products, services or processes. For example,

Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO)
CIPO is responsible for the administration and processing of the greater part
of Intellectual Property in Canada. CIPO's areas of activities include : Patents,
Trade-marks, Copyrights, Industrial Designs and Integrated Circuit Topographies.

The Mining Innovation, Rehabilitation and Applied Research Corporation (MIRARCO),
founded in 1998, is a not-for-profit applied research and technical service
company formed through collaboration between Laurentian University and the private
and public sectors.

Research Council Canada (NRC)
NRC has been the principal science and technology agency of the Canadian federal
government for 80 years. There are 16 research institutes across the country
and through them well-positioned to foster regional economic innovation.
Northern Centre for Advanced Technology Inc. (NORCAT)
NORCAT assists in the transition of the province's mining and mineral sector
and northern construction sector to a new world competitiveness which demands
high quality products and processes which are unique. NORCAT provides a single
access point to companies and entrepreneurs for training, technology diffusion,
applied research, technology transfer and product development in partnership
with industry, labour, business, government and educational institutions in
Ontario.

The primary focus of NOTC is to provide a setting for businesses to create and

a developing organization that is expected to play an important role developing
and expanding the value of technology information to small business in northwestern

The Northwestern Ontario Development Network is a unique, non-profit, membership
driven organization created and operating in Northwestern Ontario. Our membership
consists primarily of Community Futures Development Corporations and economic
development offices and committees from across the Northwest. Our Mission Statement
reads "to be an membership driven organization serving the community development
needs of the region by: 1) Being a champion of community development issues;
