772 Electronic Warfare Squadron Kingston

772 Electronic Warfare Squadron Kingston exists to provide trained Army Electronic Warfare operators and support personnel to the Canadian Forces for both domestic and overseas operations. As a part of 70 Communications Group it is the only Electronic Warfare (EW) Squadron within the Communication Reserve, and one of only two such units in the Canadian Forces. This allows excellent opportunity for the unit and its members to train, exercise and deploy with both Regular & Reserve Force units throughout the country and overseas.

Electronic Warfare involves the Intercept, Location, Analysis and Jamming of hostile communications on the modern battlefield. To fulfill our mission, we combine the training of Communication Research & Intelligence Operators in their specific roles related to Electronic Warfare. Both our Comm Research & Intelligence operators attend many specialty courses directly relating to Electronic Warfare equipment and processes throughout their careers. Along with our support trades, the Squadron is able to carry out all of our assigned tasks. Many of our members have served in various UN and NATO Operations around the world.

Training is a year-round activity. Members are expected to attend Thursday evening training in addition to what are typically two weekend training sessions per month. This training is normally conducted in or around the Squadron lines on Canadian Forces Base Kingston, or other designated locations within Ontario. During the summer months many members work full time, employed as students or staff on courses in Electronic Warfare, General Military Training, or for the various trades which make up the unit. Once fully trained, soldiers can apply for a variety of full or part-time employment opportunities that become available at various locations across the Canadian Forces throughout the year.

The honourary Lieutenant Colonel for the Reserve Electronic Warfare Squadron is: Col (Ret'd) GL Coady, OMM, CD
