Are You a Victim of Identity Theft?

Identity theft is the use of your personal information, such as your name, address, driver’s licence number, vehicle registration certificate, etc.  without your knowledge, by another person.

Identity theft is an offence under section 403 of the Criminal Code.

If someone has used your identity without your knowledge:

  1. Immediately file a complaint with your local police force.
  2. Forward the following information to the SAAQ:
    • a copy of the report of the event duly completed and signed by the police force handling the complaint;
    • a copy of the documents filed at the time of the complaint.

Send documents by fax at 418 643-1262 or by mail to this address:

Service de liaison et de soutien - Corps policiers
P.O. Box 19600, Terminus

  • has caused or is liable to affect your personal file at the SAAQ;
  • was committed using official documents issued by the SAAQ or counterfeit documents emulating official SAAQ documents.

Protection for Victims of Identity Theft
The SAAQ offers you protection against further identity theft crimes.

Upon receiving your documents, the SAAQ:
