Chaudière-Appalaches
Fertile valleys and mountains in harmony with the river

Photo

This region, with its coastal, agricultural and mining vistas, showcases the many faces of Québec's nature and culture. By following the coast, you will come across some of the most beautiful villages in Québec, characterized by their distinctive architecture and watermills. In this bird-watchers' paradise, you can observe flocks of snow geese during their spring and fall migrations! And in the backcountry valleys, you can taste maple products, bicycle amid the symphony of fall colours and, in summer and winter alike, practice your favourite sport in one of the region's beautiful parks. Make a stop in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, the sculpture mecca, where you will discover one aspect of Quebec's cultural landscape!

Travel back to the time of the seigneurs and lumberjacks

Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly, Chaudière-AppalachesThe region's history is especially rich. By taking an excursion to the Irish Memorial on Grosse-Île, in the middle of the St. Lawrence River, you can grasp the extent of the turmoil that rocked this quarantine station, which was the main port of entry for immigrants to Canada for many years. At the Domaine Joly De Lotbinière, discover a seigneurial domain located in the heart of a vast romantic garden, while at the Seigneurie des Aulnaies, you will be submersed in the atmosphere of a Victorian manor surrounded by magnificent gardens and a mill. Also, at the Village des défricheurs, you can learn more about rural life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
