Edgar Kaiser is a businessman and philanthropist whose generosity has benefited hospitals, sports facilities, libraries, the arts, education, medical research and social service and community groups. He founded and endowed the Kaiser Foundation which is committed to assisting those who face the challenges of addiction. The foundation has published The Directory of Addiction Services, now in its ninth edition, and Step By Step: A Prevention Handbook on Alcohol and Other Drug Use, which has helped communities implement child and youth prevention programs. Flying a BA3 800 jet aircraft around the world to raise public awareness on drug and alcohol abuse, he established a world record for round-the-world speed and distances between the seven refuelling points for aircraft in the class involved.
