North American Leaders' Summit Greening Initiative

In keeping with its commitment to sustainable development goals, the Government of Canada has planned the 2007 North American Leaders' Summit with a 'lead by example' approach to environmental stewardship. The Summit's greening initiative will serve to engage official delegates, their entourages, and the media in contributing to awareness and implementation of sustainable development practices. Environmental protection will be integrated into all areas of planning and decision-making and will be a priority in all operations. Some examples include set-up of recycling stations and serving locally grown produce on reuseable dinnerware throughout Summit sites; and mass ground transportation to and from the Summit sites.
