Research Interests:

Pathogenesis, prevention and epidemiology of high containment and emerging viruses, such as Nipah, Crimean-Congo-Hemorrhagic-Fever, and SARS-Corona virus. Development of diagnostic tools and procedures.

Selected projects:

  1. Paramyxoviruses (Nipah, Hendra, Canine Distemper virus): a) Study of molecular mechanisms employed for viral entry into cells. b) Design and development of inhibitors of specific steps of viral replication. c) Identification of determinants of neurovirulence.

  2. Crimean-Congo-Hemorrhagic-Fever virus: Study of virus transmission between various mammalian hosts via tick vectors.
