Surfing the Waste: A Musical Documentary About Dumpster Diving

Paul Aflalo / Tomoe Yoshihara, Sandra Lombardi, Paul Aflalo / 2006
Length: 18 min 28 sec

Follow a group of dumpster divers on a musical journey through the back alleys of Montreal. Between song and dance routines about waste and the joys of reusing other people's garbage, five young adults discuss the philosophy of living off society's excess. Going through other people's garbage provides these young Montrealers with food, furniture, clothing and luxury items they could never afford if they had to buy them. <br> For info visit: www.surfingthewaste.com; www.paulogic.com

You guys rock...Finally I can relate to someone else besides myself. It breaks my heart to see perfectly good and useable furnishings, food, appliances, dishes etc. just tossed to the curb. Without even a second as to who might be able to make use of it they just throw it away. My friends think I am crazy for dumpster diving but it saves the landfill from being filled with "stuff" that I can give a good home to. I rarely share with people how much I cruise backalleys but I like to think I am doing some good.

Best of luck to you
