Make it a family outing and celebrate astronomy! Daytime activities for all include Solar System crafts for kids, Mars Phoenix mission update, visits to the Helen
Sawyer Hogg Observatory, telescope observing of the Sun†, presentations in the Museum’s inflatable planetarium, and the Museum’s new young people’s forum “Humans or Robots for Space Exploration?”
BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO ASTRONOMY

Learn to be a stargazer and become more confident about finding your way in the night sky! Where and how do you look to find constellations, planets and deep sky objects? What equipment is needed? These questions and more are answered during this three-week mini-course. Choose from series A or B, or sign up for both! Includes sessions in the inflatable planetarium and telescope observing in the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory.† Duration: 2 hours

astronomy or space badges. Duration: 90 minutes
Astronomy
Learn cool things about the Solar System! Discover how stars are formed. Touch real meteorites, look through Canada’s largest refracting telescope† in the Helen Sawyer
Hogg Observatory, or view the constellations in the Museum’s inflatable planetarium.
Canada in Space
Through a guided visit of the Canada in Space exhibition, see real satellites Alouette and Hermes, discover what it takes to become an astronaut, and explore Canada’s
contribution to the International Space Station.

Curious about space and astronomy? These hands-on workshops feature a new craft activity each month that encourages exploration of science and astronomy, complemented by either a guided tour of the heavens in the inflatable planetarium, a visit to the Canada in Space exhibition, or a visit to the Observatory.† Duration: 90 minutes
